| COVID-19 Update |
In an ongoing effort to suppress the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), the City and the County of El Paso issued a “Stay Home, Work Safe” order. The order applies to everyone in El Paso County with the exception of essential businesses and activities: emergency personnel, healthcare personnel, groceries, financial, critical trades, postal services, food delivery or pick-up, home-based care, childcare, and those performing essential government functions. Anyone working in those fields must abide by the social distancing requirements laid out by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The order will continue until further notice and those who are found violating it could face a fine not to exceed $1,000.00 or be jailed for up to 180 days. For more information on the "Stay Home, Work Safe" order, click here.
The COVID-19 pandemic is rapidly evolving and may cause feelings of worry and stress. To help, the CDC suggests exercising and eating balanced meals, connecting with loved ones via phone or video chat, and taking a break from watching the news or social media. | The Small Business Owner's Guide to the CARES Act |
Last Friday, I voted for the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. The programs and initiatives in the CARES Act are intended to assist business owners with whatever needs they have right now. When implemented, there will be many new resources available for small businesses, as well as certain non- profits and other employers.
Click here for a guide that provides information about the major programs and initiatives that will soon be available from the Small Business Administration (SBA) to address these needs, as well as some additional tax provisions that are outside the scope of SBA.
To keep up to date on when these programs become available, please stay in contact with your local SBA District Office, which you can locate here.
