It is a dark day in America when a Supreme Court ruling ensures the generations that follow ours will have fewer rights than we have today. The Supreme Court’s decision on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization represents yet another blatant attack on the rights of the American people by a Conservative Supreme Court.

Striking down Roe overturns 50 years of precedent and strips women of their reproductive freedom and control of their own bodies, lives, and futures.

House Democrats will continue the fight to ensure every woman has the freedom to make personal decisions with those they love and trust without politicians trying to control them. I implore my colleagues in the Senate to pass the Women’s Health Protection Act with heightened urgency to enshrine access to abortion care into law in our country.

National Defense Authorization Act

On June 23, I joined my House Armed Services Committee colleagues to pass H.R. 7900, the FY23 NDAA. In it, we had many wins for El Paso. Some of the provisions I championed - like codifying Tigua gaming rights, funding for a fire station at Fort Bliss, and easing reimbursement costs for military spouse entrepreneurs, made it into the final bill. This month I hosted Taylor, this year's Congressional Art Competition Winner for our district, and her family in our nation's capital. She'll have her artwork, "Mi Querido Viejo," displayed in the Capitol for the next year.
