Dear [salutation], Advocating for El Paso in the halls of Congress has been one of the greatest honors of my life. Aside from being able to legislate to advance bills in the best interest of all Americans, I also get to vote on pieces of legislation that create competitive grant opportunities for local governments, public housing authorities, non-profits, independent school districts, etc. I encourage your entity to visit websites like grants.gov to identify and apply for grants that are in alignment with your organization’s mission to ensure El Paso capitalizes on the record-breaking investments being made by the federal government. Learn more here about how my office can support grant applicants.

Last year, the City of El Paso secured $12 million from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) grant program. The El Paso City Council recently authorized the $12 million from the RAISE grant along with an additional $2.8 million from tolls, to initiate projects that are set to improve pedestrian safety and customer service at the Ysleta Port of Entry.

I recently paid a visit to University Medical Center of El Paso to announce a $1.3 million award as part of FY24 Community Project Funding. The award will be used to replace UMC’s aging 2.5MW emergency generator and add power storage and solar capacity for the hospital. The replacement of this machinery will ensure the care of patience in the case of a loss of power.
