Representative Veronica Escobar

Dear [salutation],

Fall is here, and September has been an incredibly busy month both in El Paso and DC.

In DC, we've passed legislation to keep the government open, provided emergency relief funding for Puerto Rico and Florida, and met with countless El Pasoans.

In El Paso, we've gone to great lengths to address the current increase in migrant arrivals, convening federal and local stakeholders to ensure all parties share a clear vision. The only way to fix our broken immigration and asylum process is with innovative, meaningful reform.

I'm proud of El Paso and how we’ve responded to this situation. It always when someone is in a time of need that our people rise up to the challenge, and this time has been no different.

As always, please remember to subscribe to my newsletter and follow me on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to ensure you never miss any of my updates and stay in the loop on what I’ve been doing for El Paso.

Abortion care is a

national security issue;

our military can't function

at its best if

servicemembers are

denied these crucial services.

I was grateful to stand with my colleagues and advocates to discuss the importance of veterans' access to reproductive healthcare in late September.

We continue to face the

choice as a nation to address challenges at our border with compassion and dignity, or cruelty and bigotry. Any
solutions will require hard work and real commitment, but it’s the right thing to do.

Watch my CNN Newsroom interview for more.

It was a privilege to meet with

Veterans of Foreigns Wars member Benny Guerrero.

We passed the Pact Act in honor of veterans like him and all those in El Paso and beyond who served.

Many thanks to Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute for the invitation to speak at their "Building a Climate Resilient Nation: Green American Communities and Business" panel.

You can always count on me to advocate for a greener, more equitable world for our Hispanic communities.

Earlier this month, I had a productive meeting with U.S. International Boundary and Water Commission Commissioner Dr. Maria-Elena Giner to discuss water infrastructure improvements in El Paso and along the Rio Grande.

It’s always a pleasure meeting with a fellow El Pasoan. Congratulations on your first year as commissioner!

Congratulations to Bowie HS for turning 100!

It was a joy to speak at their ceremony, present a congressional record honoring this celebration, and feel the love current students, staff, and alumni have for this magnificent institution.

I was proud to announce early this month that the West Texas Aerospace and Defense Manufacturing Coalition, led by the University of Texas at El Paso’s (UTEP) renowned Aerospace Center, was awarded $40 million as a winner of the Department of Commerce’s Build Back Better Regional Challenge.

As the only federal elected official in the region to vote for the American Rescue Plan, I'm proud of this legislation, which invests in El Paso, our talented UTEP faculty and students, our innovative manufacturers, and our talented workforce within the rapidly growing aerospace industry.

It was a pleasure to meet with Mr. Javier Bu Soto, Honduran Charge d’Affairs, to discuss various bilateral priorities President Castro has on her agenda.

We must continue to address regional challenges and encourage governmental initiatives to strengthen our countries' ties.

The United States and Mexico share a special bond; our intertwined cultures, history, and shared experience exude the best of our people, exemplified by El Paso.

I had the privilege to join the unveiling of the new Benito Juarez statue in a ceremony honoring the Chamizal Treaty.

Meeting inspiring young people reenergizes me and makes me hopeful for our future.

It was a pleasure to meet some bright El Pasoans completing an internship at the Smithsonian.
