Last month, researchers from the University of Texas at El Paso's College of Health Sciences were awarded a $240,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Education to study employment barriers faced by veterans and Asian Americans with disabilities.

Recently, Project Vida received $1.9 million from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as part of a non-competing continuation award to continue providing vital health services to El Pasoans.
Project Vida's Health Center is one of El Paso's three Federally Qualified Health Centers that receive public health funding.

Earlier this month, the University of Texas at El Paso secured a $152,352 award from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to enhance manufacturing security with the Cybersecurity Manufacturing Innovation Institute (CyManII), which is one of DOE's seven Clean Energy Manufactuing Innovation Institutes, by creating an artificial intelligence (AI)-driven framework for vulnerability analysis specific to manufacturing environments.

FY2023 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG)
The primary goal of the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) is to meet the firefighting and emergency response needs of fire departments and non-affiliated emergency medical service organizations. Since 2001, AFG has helped firefighters and other first responders obtain critically needed equipment, protective gear, emergency vehicles, training and other resources necessary for

protecting the public and emergency personnel from fire and related hazards.
This notice formally announces the availability of $324 million to potential applicants and includes pertinent program information such as important dates in the application and grant timeline, program requirements, performance measures, funding eligibility and more.

Grants to Expand Substance Use Disorder Treatment Capacity in Adult and Family Treatment Drug Courts (SAMHSA Treatment Drug Courts)
The purpose of this program is to expand substance use disorder (SUD) treatment and recovery support services in existing drug courts, recognizing the need for treatment instead of incarceration for individuals with SUD. These awards support a continuum of care, including prevention, harm reduction, treatment, and recovery services, for individuals with SUD involved with the courts.
This funding opportunity is part of a $28 million announcement from the Biden-Harris Administration's efforts to beat the overdose epidemic and tackle the mental health crisis - two key pillars of the President's Unity Agenda for the nation.

Community Policing Development (CDP)
CPD is a competitive grant program designed to advance the practice of community policing by providing guidance on promising practices through the development and testing of innovative strategies; building knowledge about effective practices
|

and outcomes; and supporting new, creative approaches to preventing crime and promoting safe communities.
This solicitation is open to all for-profit (commercial) and nonprofit institutions, institutions of higher education, community groups, and faith-based organizations. Funding for one award up to $750,000 is available for this program.

Cybercrimes Enforcement Program (CEP)
The CEP supports efforts by states, tribes, and units of local governments to prevent, enforce, and prosecute cybercrimes against individuals.
|
|
Funds from this program can be used to support training relating to cybercrimes against individuals, as well as assistance to law enforcement agencies in enforcing laws that prohibit cybercrimes against individuals, educating the public, supporting victim assistants, establishing task forces, and acquiring computers and equipment necessary to conduct investigations and forensic analysis of evidence.

The Joint Office of Energy and Transportation is a collaboration between the U.S. Departments of Energy and Transportation to support the buildout of a nationwide network of EV chargers, zero-emission fueling infrastructure, and zero-emission transit and school buses. The Joint Office is offering three webinars in February that will dig into several important topics related to EV deployment, permitting and site selection strategies and zoning.
