Congresswoman Veronica Escobar Amendment to Improve Access to Health Care for El Paso and Underserved Communities Unanimously Passes House of Representatives
(Washington, D.C.) – Today, Congresswoman Veronica Escobar (TX-16) issued the following statement after the House of Representatives unanimously passed her amendment to
H.R. 987, the Strengthening Health Care and Lowering Prescription Drug Costs Act, a major piece of legislation that addresses two top concerns for El Pasoans: lowering prescription drug prices and boosting health care coverage.
Congresswoman Escobar’s amendment requires Affordable Care Act (ACA) Navigators to assist vulnerable populations including those with limited English proficiency and chronic illnesses.
“As Congress fulfills our promise to strengthen health care and lower prescription drug costs for all Americans, it is important to bolster the Navigator Program to ensure we make every attempt to leave no one behind, regardless of the language they speak or their eligibility needs,” said Congresswoman Veronica Escobar.
“My amendment to the Strengthening Health Care and Lowering Prescription Drug Costs Act will benefit El Paso and other underserved communities across the country by removing barriers for enrollment and helping families choose suitable health insurance plans.”
