Congresswoman Veronica Escobar Statement on Historic Markup of Gun Violence Prevention Legislation

“After the hateful attack against El Paso, I was determined to return to our nation’s capital and deliver the change the victims, survivors, and thousands of communities impacted by gun violence deserve.

Congresswoman Veronica Escobar (TX-16) issued the following statement on the House Judiciary Committee’s historic markup of additional legislation to address the gun violence epidemic in the United States:

“After the hateful attack against El Paso, I was determined to return to our nation’s capital and deliver the change the victims, survivors, and thousands of communities impacted by gun violence deserve.

“While Senate Republicans have failed to act on bipartisan gun safety bills already passed by the House, yesterday, I proudly joined my Judiciary Committee colleagues to build on our progress and advance commonsense bills that would make our communities safer. El Pasoans will be relentless in demanding action and Senate Republicans should join us in this effort save lives.”
