Congresswoman Escobar Statement on DPCC Election
Washington, DC,
December 1, 2022
Today, Congresswoman Veronica Escobar (TX-16) released the following statement on her election to the Democratic Policy and Communications Committee: “I am honored my colleagues have elected me as a Co-Chair of the DPCC. As one of the members entrusted with crafting the messaging for our party over the next two years, I am humbled by this awesome responsibility. “This upcoming Congress is an opportunity to ensure that the American people see that it is Democrats who - throughout the 117th Congress - delivered historic investments in infrastructure, climate, and manufacturing. Meanwhile, we know that the Republican Party, which largely voted against our good work, has proven unable to govern and remains gripped by the extremism damaging our nation. Using every tool at our disposal, continuing our work to connect with communities of color, addressing difficult topics head-on, and learning from each of our members across every corner of our country is just the beginning of how we will accomplish the goals I have for this invaluable committee. “I congratulate Chair Joe Neguse and Co-Chairs Lauren Underwood and Dean Phillips, and I am grateful to every member who invested the time and effort to run. I cannot wait to begin working together on behalf of our caucus and the American people."
