Congresswoman Escobar Appointed to House Committee on Ethics for the 118th Congress

Today, the House Democratic Caucus approved the nomination of Congresswoman Veronica Escobar (TX-16) to serve on the House Committee on Ethics for the 118th Congress.

Having served on the committee during the 117th Congress, this appointment will be Congresswoman Escobar’s second term on the committee.

“I am honored and humbled to continue serving on this crucial committee,” said Congresswoman Escobar. “I thank Leader Jeffries and the rest of the House Democratic Caucus for entrusting me with the important work of ensuring our guiding principles are followed and applied to the fullest and most impartial extent.”

“Today, I am honored to appoint Reps. Veronica Escobar, Mark DeSaulnier, Deborah Ross and Glenn Ivey to the House Committee on Ethics,” said Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries. “These Members have each shown a steadfast commitment to good governance and they exemplify our Democratic values of integrity, transparency and accountability. Under the leadership of Ranking Member Susan Wild, these Members will protect the sanctity of the People’s House and ensure that our elected officials uphold the highest ethical standards.”

The House Committee on Ethics was established in 1967 and is charged with investigating and adjudicating any alleged violations of the House rules or any related statutes by House Members, officers, or employees. In addition, the committee advises and educates House Members, officers, and employees about the application of ethics laws and rules, and reviews financial disclosure statements.
