Today, Congresswoman Veronica Escobar (TX-16) released the following statement after the El Paso Walmart shooter pleaded guilty in federal court to hate crimes and weapons charges: 

“Yesterday’s hearing, where the El Paso Walmart shooter pleaded guilty to 90 different charges, including hate crimes, murder, and weapons charges, was no doubt incredibly difficult for everyone who suffered from the August 3^rd, 2019 attack on our community.

“I’m thinking today of the survivors, the victims, their families, the first responders who without hesitation answered the call that day, and of our entire community that came together and has been loving, caring, and comforting every day since. This hearing was one more step in the journey toward justice.”
