Congresswoman Veronica Escobar Statement on LGBTQ Pride Month

“Although we have made great progress, there is still much work to be done. The Trump administration continues to attack the LGBTQ community and promote a discriminatory agenda that denies basic civil rights to many because of who they are or whom they love.

(Boston, MA) — Today, Congresswoman Veronica Escobar (TX-16) issued this statement in honor of LGBTQ Pride Month, which begins June 1st.

“During LGBTQ Pride Month, we celebrate the courage and persistence of tireless advocates and organizations that have fought for the dignity and equality of LGBTQ individuals in El Paso and across our nation.

“Although we have made great progress, there is still much work to be done. The Trump administration continues to attack the LGBTQ community and promote a discriminatory agenda that denies basic civil rights to many because of who they are or whom they love.

“This month, let us reaffirm our commitment to protect LGBTQ rights and continue working to promote legislation, like the recently passed Equality Act, that defends our nation’s values of fairness and equality for all.”
