Congresswoman Veronica Escobar Statement on Redacted Mueller Report

“Contrary to Attorney General Barr’s statements, which were a deliberate effort to mislead the American people, the Special Counsel did not exonerate President Trump on obstruction of justice claims and outlined ample evidence of his misconduct and efforts to delegitimize and obstruct the investigation.

Today, Congresswoman Veronica Escobar (TX-16), member of the House Judiciary Committee, issued the following statement on the release of a redacted version of Special Counsel Mueller’s report:

“Contrary to Attorney General Barr’s statements, which were a deliberate effort to mislead the American people, the Special Counsel did not exonerate President Trump on obstruction of justice claims and outlined ample evidence of his misconduct and efforts to delegitimize and obstruct the investigation.

“As I continue to review this report and the alarming behavior by the President and his associates, many questions remain unanswered. To answer these questions, Congress must see the full, unredacted report and underlying evidence, and hear directly from Special Counsel Mueller and Attorney General Barr. I look forward to their testimony in the Judiciary Committee. Our country and our democracy deserve no less.”
