Congresswoman Escobar Publishes Government Shutdown Resources Page
Washington, DC,
September 27, 2023
Today, the Office of Congresswoman Veronica Escobar (TX-16) published an online resource page for the potential upcoming federal shutdown. “With over 21,000 federal employees living in our community, the impending Republican shutdown will have a devastating effect across the country,” said Congresswoman Escobar. "Federal employees like CBP & TSA agents, air traffic controllers, and servicemembers will work without pay, critical programs many depend on in our community will face dramatically increased wait times, food safety inspections will be delayed and so much more. As Republicans drag their feet and continue infighting, I'm committed to working with the rest of my colleagues to find a solution and resolve an unnecessary crisis.” The webpage includes information on what a government shutdown means, how it affects El Pasoans, and frequently asked questions (FAQs) & additional resources for furloughed employees. NOTE: The webpage is a living document; it will be updated so please check it frequently for additional information. You can access the page here.
