Congresswoman Escobar Statement on Contract Award for El Paso VA Health Care Center

Today, Congresswoman Escobar (TX-16) released the following statement regarding the news that a contract has been awarded for the design and construction of the new El Paso Veteran Affairs Health Care Center:

“It was an honor to work on behalf of our veterans and secure $700 million in funding for a new healthcare center. Today’s announcement that a contract has been awarded means we’re one step closer to realizing our goal of providing world-class healthcare to our servicemembers and veterans here at home, in the Veterans Capital of the U.S.”

As part of the $1.7 trillion Consolidated Appropriations Act signed into law in 2022, Congresswoman Escobar championed the $700 million in federal funds for the construction of a brand-new VA healthcare center. Current construction estimates project the completion of the facility in late 2029 or early 2030. The facility will be built on 36 acres on the campus of the William Beaumont Army Medical Center complex on Fort Bliss land in East El Paso.
