Congresswoman Escobar Announces 2025 Joint Address Guest
Washington, DC,
March 3, 2025
Today, Congresswoman Veronica Escobar (TX-16) announced that Cesar Cordero will be joining her as her guest for this week’s Joint Address to Congress by President Trump. Mr. Cordero is a proud US Army veteran and dedicated El Pasoan with a passion for public service. With 15 years of experience as a Federal Air Traffic Controller, he has built a distinguished career in aviation safety and currently serves as the President of the El Paso chapter of the National Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA) Union where he advocates for his fellow air traffic controllers and works to improve working conditions and safety standards. “Our community is home to thousands of federal employees,” said Congresswoman Escobar. “From federal law enforcement agents to VA employees and more, each of these men and women have dedicated their careers to our country. At a time when the Trump administration has targeted federal employees, I’m proud to stand in their support. It is my pleasure to have Cesar as my guest this week as his career and dedication to our country exemplify what it means to be a public servant.” “I am deeply honored by Congresswoman Escobar’s invitation to attend the President’s address to a joint session of Congress as her guest,” said Cesar Cordero. “Regardless of our personal political viewpoints, it is a privilege to witness a piece of American history in the making. As an immigrant, US Army veteran, and President of our local air traffic controllers union, I know service to our country comes in many forms. Now more than ever, we must support those who dedicate their lives and careers to our great nation. We must unify around the idea that every American worker deserves dignity and respect in the workplace, and I am proud to represent the federal workforce and the American labor movement.” In addition to his role as President of NATCA-El Paso, Cesar is a Union Organizer and Texas State Legislative Coordinator, leveraging his leadership skills to influence policy and support workers' rights across the country. Outside of his professional endeavors, Cesar is a proud father to two children, Lucas and Leia, and shares a strong family foundation with his wife, Rosanna, an elementary school teacher in the Ysleta Independent School District. Together, they are deeply committed to supporting their community and making a positive impact both in and outside of the classroom and workplace. Note: This week’s event is not a State of the Union. Typically, a State of the Union address is used for a president to recap their accomplishments of the past year. Considering the President was recently elected, it is simply known as a Joint Address to Congress. To watch the video of Congresswoman Escobar calling to invite Mr. Cordero, click here.
