“The Trump administration’s immoral family separation policy has inflicted harm and pain on thousands of innocent children and their families and corroded our deepest American values.
Today, Congresswoman Veronica Escobar (TX-16) issued the following statement after the House Judiciary Committee held one of the first oversight hearings examining the Trump administration's cruel family separation policy: “The Trump administration’s immoral family separation policy has inflicted harm and pain on thousands of innocent children and their families and corroded our deepest American values. “Since the Department of Homeland Security and the Justice Department decided to use El Paso as a testing ground for this shameful policy, the Trump administration has displayed its incompetence by failing to answer basic questions about the implementation and family reunification process. “The American people deserve answers. Today’s House Judiciary Committee hearing was the first step to ensuring the Trump administration is held accountable for this disastrous policy.
