Congresswoman Escobar Statement on House Vote to Impeach President Donald Trump

Today, Congresswoman Veronica Escobar (TX-16) issued the following statement after the House of Representatives voted on H.Res. 24, impeaching Donald John Trump, President of the United States, for high crimes and misdemeanors:

“On January 6, 2021, all of America witnessed a deadly attack against our nation that resulted in at least six deaths, endangered the legislative branch of government, and violated our democracy in an unprecedented way.

“The President incited domestic terrorists and refused to stop them, demonstrating once again something that El Pasoans already knew: he is our greatest national security threat and he must be removed from power.

“Today, with my community and our fragile democracy in my heart and mind, I once again embraced my duty to defend the Constitution against a domestic enemy and voted to impeach a man that has brought America to her knees: President Donald J. Trump.”
