Congresswoman Escobar Delivers Valentine’s Day Cards to El Paso Seniors and Veterans
El Paso, TX,
February 12, 2021
Today, Congresswoman Veronica Escobar (TX-16) announced that, as part of her office’s Valentine’s for Seniors and Veterans program, she will safely deliver over 250 Valentine’s Day cards handmade by El Paso children to local seniors and veterans. “The lives of El Paso seniors and veterans has been severely altered by the COVID-19 pandemic and now more than ever, we need to come together apart to recognize their contributions and sacrifices,” said Congresswoman Escobar. “The Valentine’s for Seniors and Veterans program is a safe and beautiful way to show appreciation, strengthen intergenerational connections, and combat social isolation. I am thankful to community organizations and to every young El Pasoan who took time to craft homemade cards for joining my office in this effort, spreading love, and making El Paso stronger.” The Valentine’s Day cards were crafted by children from Tippin Elementary, REL Washington Elementary, Mesita Elementary, EP Angels Baseball, and the Boy Scouts of the Yucca Council. The cards will be safely delivered to seniors participating in the El Paso County’s Senior Nutrition program, veterans served by the El Paso VA Health Care System, and veterans living in the Veterans Transitional Living Center.
