Congresswoman Escobar Designated as Vice Chair of House Armed Services Subcommittee on Military Personnel for the 117th Congress

Today, the House Armed Services Committee announced that Congresswoman Veronica Escobar (TX-16) has been designated as Vice Chair of the Subcommittee on Military Personnel for the 117th Congress. Congresswoman Escobar will also serve on the Subcommittee on Cyber, Innovative Technologies, and Information Systems. “I am honored to serve as Vice Chair of the Subcommittee on Military Personnel and look forward to continuing my work ensuring the wellbeing and protection of our brave men and women in uniform and their families in Fort Bliss and across the globe,” said Congresswoman Escobar. “As Vice Chair, I will work with Chairwoman Jackie Speier, my Congressional colleagues, and Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III to address sexual violence and harassment, eliminate the persistent stigma against mental health, and promote meaningful diversity and inclusion in our military.” The House Armed Services Subcommittee on Military Personnel has jurisdiction over Department of Defense policy and programs and accounts related to military personnel and their families, Reserve Component integration and employment, military health care, military education, dependent schools, POW/MIA issues, Morale, Welfare and Recreation, commissaries, cemeteries under the jurisdiction of the Department of Defense, the Uniform Code of Military Justice, and military retirement issues.
