Congresswoman Escobar Seeks Veteran for Wounded Warrior Fellowship in El Paso Office

Congresswoman Veronica Escobar (TX-16) announced that she is seeking a wounded and/or disabled veteran for a two-year paid fellowship in her El Paso district office. The veteran chosen for the fellowship will work with active-duty and veteran constituents and act as a facilitator between El Pasoans and federal, state, and local agencies, as well as veteran service organizations.

“El Paso is home to nearly 50,000 veterans who have served our country with valor and patriotism and I’m committed to ensuring our nation’s heroes have resources to succeed as they return to civilian life,” said Congresswoman Escobar. “I am proud to partner with the Wounded Warrior Fellowship Program to offer a wounded or disabled veteran the opportunity to play a critical role on ensuring fellow veterans, servicemembers, and their families have access to the federal resources, benefits, and care they have earned.”

The Wounded Warrior Fellowship Program was established by the House of Representatives in 2008 to provide opportunities for wounded or disabled veterans to work for Congress.

The program is limited to veterans who meet all of the following requirements: Honorably discharged, released from active duty within the last five years, terminal pay grades at or below E-5 or O-3, 20% or greater service connected disabilities (waived if a veteran has a Purple Heart). Veterans who are in receipt of a 20-year or Temporary Early Retirement Authorization (TERA) retirement are not eligible for the program.
