Congresswoman Escobar’s Statement on the Senate FY2022 Budget Resolution

Congresswoman Veronica Escobar released the following statement on the text of the Senate Democrats’ FY2022 Budget Resolution:

“Over the last few months, as Co-Chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) Executive Orders and Budget Reconciliation Sub-Task Force, I have worked closely with Rep. Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) to ensure immigration reform would be included in the reconciliation package that will be considered by Congress in the near future.

“Together, we have led key discussions with Senate Democratic Leaders, including Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Senate Budget Chairman Bernie Sanders, and Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin. I am proud to announce today that with the unveiling of the Budget Resolution in the Senate, a pathway to citizenship for millions of essential workers, Dreamers, TPS Holders, and farmworkers is indeed included in the resolution. Polling has consistently shown that Americans support immigration reform and expect Congress to act on this priority. While there is still much work ahead to ensure our priorities become law, I am proud of the work my colleague Rep. Espaillat and I have done to ensure Congressional action on immigration reform. We remain committed to fighting any and all anti-immigrant amendments as this package makes its way to the House.”

Earlier today, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus issued a statement on behalf of CHC Chairman Raul Ruiz and Reps. Escobar and Espaillat. For the CHC’s full release, please click here.
