Congresswoman Escobar and students from the Congressional Youth Advisory Council
Congresswoman Veronica Escobar started the Texas’ 16th Congressional District’s Congressional Youth Advisory Council (CYAC) as a leadership opportunity for high school students with an interest in public service and the legislative process. The CYAC offers a unique opportunity for student to learn about the federal government, debate policy, and participate in an interactive experience. The CYAC will work with Congresswoman Veronica Escobar’s office to research topics and bills while collaborating alongside their peers. All students living in the district and in grades 10-12 are eligible to apply.
Please note that attendance is required and that more than 2 absences may result in dismissal from the program.
The Office of Congresswoman Veronica Escobar is currently accepting applications for our 2026/27 Fall Youth Advisory Council. The application deadline is Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at 5:00 PM.
Program Timeline:
There will be 6 scheduled meetings for the Fall 2026/27 cohort.
