Congresswoman Escobar Joined by Department of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg for Tour of El Paso International Airport

Today, Congresswoman Veronica Escobar (TX-16) was joined by Department of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg for a tour of the El Paso International Airport. During the visit, Secretary Buttigieg visited the airport’s FAA Tower, the main terminal, and met with local leaders and stakeholders.

“From new electric vehicles to airport upgrades and renovations, the investments we’ve seen in our community from the federal level have been historic,” said Congresswoman Escobar. “I want to thank Secretary Buttigieg for his visit to El Paso today to see the fruits of our labor and all that’s left to be accomplished under an administration which has prioritized communities like ours. As the only federal representative in our region to vote for the legislation that directly funded many of our recent infrastructure projects through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, El Pasoans can continue to count on me to advocate on their behalf and be relentless in my pursuit to keep bringing federal dollars back to our community.”

While in El Paso, Congresswoman Escobar introduced Secretary Buttigieg to air traffic control staff. As one of Congresswoman Escobar’s priorities, they then toured the air traffic control tower. Following the tower, they joined city and local leadership, as well as the El Paso Mobility Coalition for a roundtable discussion at the airport terminal.
