Congresswoman Veronica Escobar (TX-16) seeks a veteran, Gold Star Family member, or an active-duty spouse for a two-year paid position in her El Paso office.

Congresswoman Veronica Escobar (TX-16) seeks a veteran, Gold Star Family member, or an active-duty spouse for a two-year paid position in her El Paso office.

The Green & Gold Congressional Aide will work closely with military and veteran constituents to further Congresswoman Escobar’s engagement in El Paso and Fort Bliss and act as a facilitator between constituents and federal, state, and local agencies.

“El Paso is home to nearly 50,000 veterans who have served our country with valor and patriotism, and I’m committed to ensuring our nation’s heroes have resources to succeed,” said Congresswoman Escobar. “That’s why I’m proud to partner with the Green & Gold Congressional Aide Program to hire someone to work in my office that is a veteran, military spouse, or member of a Gold Star Family. I encourage all eligible El Pasoans to apply for this unique public service opportunity.”

The Green & Gold Congressional Aide Program was established by the House of Representatives to provide employment opportunities for veterans and Gold Star Families within member offices.

The program is limited to veterans and Gold Star Families who meet all of the following requirements: Veterans must be Honorably discharged, released from active duty within the last six years, terminal pay grades at or below E-5,O-3,or W-2. Veterans promoted to the pay grades of E-6, O-4, and W-3 within 6-months of separation from active duty are eligible, granted they meet ALL other eligibility requirements. Veterans who are in receipt of a 20-year or Temporary Early Retirement Authorization (TERA) retirement are not eligible for the program. Gold Star applicants must be the spouse, parent, sibling, child or step-child of a service member who died in the line of duty, or died from a service connected disability. Active-duty spouses must be a spouse of a service member serving on active duty in a regular component of the armed forces.
