Congresswoman Veronica Escobar (TX-16) announced her office would be accepting applications for Community Project Funding (CPF) for Fiscal Year 2023 (FY23). With the release of updated guidance from the House Committee on Appropriations for the upcoming appropriations cycle, eligible entities are encouraged to submit an application with the Congresswoman’s office to request a one-time infusion of federal funds. As part of the updated guidelines, congressional offices can request up to 15 projects to be allocated federal funds through the appropriations bill. While there is no guarantee that all requested projects will be funded, last year Congresswoman Escobar was able to secure over $11.5 million in federal funding for nine community projects, including wastewater projects for the County of El Paso, the Body-Worn Camera program for the El Paso Police Department, and support needed for technology upgrades for Centro de Salud Familiar La Fe. The guidelines specify that each application must be for FY23 only and cannot include multi-year funding requests. Only state and local government entities, public institutions, and non-profit entities are eligible to submit an application and receive funding as a Community Project. My office will also be holding a webinar next week to give a broad overview of the process and answer questions the community may have about their requests. Applications are due April 20th at 5pm MST and staff may follow up for additional information to support the CPF request such as budget justification, documentation of community support and need, or proof of ability to meet match requirements once an initial request has been submitted. |
