Congresswoman Escobar Announces Phased Reopening of the Capitol Complex

After health and safety guidelines mandated the closure of the Capitol Complex to the public for over two years, Congresswoman Veronica Escobar (TX-16) proudly invites constituents to make reservations to visit the U.S. Capitol as it reopens for tours.

The Capitol building will reopen in the following phases:

  • Phase 1 began March 28th and is open for staff-led tours of groups up to 15 people, as well as for school groups of up to 50 students that will be selected on a first-come first-served basis.
  • Phase 2 will begin May 30th. The Office of the Physician is still exploring the capacity of tours for this phase.
  • The third and final phase has been tentatively scheduled for Labor Day weekend, September 5th.

“I am excited to welcome members of our community back to the People’s House,” said Congresswoman Escobar. “I’m proud to invite all El Pasoans to share in the rich history of the Capitol, a true symbol of democracy and hope, as we begin to reopen to the public.”
